Pavement Markings

Parking Lot Line Painting in Ottawa

Faded lines make a lot look neglected and make it work badly. Clear markings fit more vehicles safely, keep fire routes clear, and keep accessible spaces properly defined.

Line Painting overview

Layout is the part that pays for itself

Repainting faded lines over the existing layout is the common job, and often the right one. But if your lot has awkward dead space, aisles that are tighter than they need to be, or a stall count that does not match how the property is actually used, a repaint is the cheapest opportunity you will ever get to fix it.

We can mark out a revised layout before painting so you can see the change on the ground, rather than committing to it on paper.

Accessible spaces and fire routes

Accessible parking spaces, their access aisles, and their signage are governed by requirements that apply to your property, and faded or incorrectly sized markings are a real liability rather than a cosmetic problem. The same goes for fire route markings, which have to stay legible to be enforceable.

When we repaint a lot we lay these out deliberately rather than tracing whatever ghost lines are left, and we will flag anything on your existing layout that looks like it needs attention from the property owner.

Timing around new asphalt

Freshly paved asphalt needs to cure before it is painted — paint applied too soon will not bond properly and can lift. If we have just paved your lot, we schedule the marking work for after that cure window rather than rushing it and repainting later.

Start to Finish

What the Process Looks Like

No surprises. Here is exactly how a line painting project runs from the first phone call to the final walkthrough.

Site measurement

We measure the lot, count the existing stalls, and note fire routes, accessible spaces, curbs and obstacles.

Layout confirmation

For a straight repaint we confirm the existing layout. For a revised layout, stall lines are chalked out first so you can see the change on the ground before paint is committed.

Scheduling around your traffic

Painting needs a clear, dry surface with no vehicles on it. We schedule evenings, weekends or phased sections so the lot keeps working.

Surface preparation

The area is swept and cleaned so paint bonds to pavement rather than dust, and any remaining old markings that would confuse the new layout are dealt with.

Painting

Lines, symbols, arrows and lettering are applied to the confirmed layout with clean, straight edges.

Cure and reopen

Sections are barricaded until the paint is dry, then reopened. We confirm the timing with you before we start so you can plan around it.

Common Questions

Line Painting FAQs

How long does line painting take?

Most lots are a single visit. The painting itself is fast — the scheduling constraint is having the surface clear of vehicles and dry, which is why evening and weekend work is common.

How soon can cars park on the fresh lines?

Usually within a few hours, depending on temperature and humidity. We barricade the painted sections and tell you the specific timing before we start.

Can you paint over the old lines?

For a straight repaint, yes — new paint goes over the existing layout. If we are changing the layout, old markings that would confuse drivers need to be dealt with first, otherwise you end up with two competing sets of lines.

Can you change our stall layout to fit more cars?

Often, yes. Stall angle, aisle width and how the dead space at the edges is used all affect the count. We will measure the lot and show you what a revised layout would yield before you commit to it.

Do you paint accessible parking spaces and fire routes?

Yes — accessible spaces with their access aisles and symbols, fire route markings, no-parking zones, stop bars, crosswalks and directional arrows. These are the markings that matter most to keep legible.

How soon after paving can a lot be painted?

New asphalt needs to cure before paint will bond properly. We schedule the marking work after that window rather than painting immediately and having to redo it.
